Half Square Triangle

Two at a Time

  1. On the wrong side of one fabric square, lightly draw a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite corner.
  2. Put two fabric squares right sides together, where the square with the line you drew is on top.
  3. Sew a 1/4″ seam on either side of the drawn line.
  4. Cut along the drawn line.

Four at a Time

  1. Put two fabric squares right sides together.
  2. Sew a 1/4″ seam around all four edges of the square.
  3. Without moving the square or pieces between cuts, make the following cuts:
    • Cut the square diagonally, from corner to corner.
    • Make another diagonal cut opposite to the one you already made.

Eight at a Time

  1. On the wrong side of one fabric square, lightly draw a diagonal line from one corner to the opposite corner.
  2. Draw another diagonal line opposite to the one you already made.
  3. Put two fabric squares right sides together, where the square with the lines you drew is on top.
  4. Sew a 1/4″ seam on either side of both drawn lines.
  5. Without moving the square or pieces between cuts, make the following cuts:
    • Cut the square diagonally from corner to corner.
    • Make another diagonal cut opposite to the one you already made.
    • Cut the square in half length-wise.
    • Make another length-wise cut opposite to the one you already made.
